Survey: Many Valley students report moderate to severe depression

Based on a well-being survey of Wood Valley students conducted in the fall and three community meetings last week on youth mental health, Blaine County School District Superintendent Jim Foudy said he’s pleased to be making progress as a community on some actionable areas. Discover.

He said Foudy believes that as a way to combat depression, it starts with promoting better sleep among teenagers.

Girls feel depressed at much higher rates than boys, according to a survey of more than 1,200 students conducted in the fall. The Patient Health Questionnaire is a self-administered version of the PRIME-MD diagnostic tool for common mental disorders.
